RUTH'S OBITUARY:
Ruth Jeanette Thorne, aged 86 of Scottville, formerly of Zapata, TX died peacefully on Sunday evening, June 10. 2012. Ruth was born on June 1, 1926 in Lansing to Louis and Mary Nichols. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband’s Lester Leo Muzzy, Richard M. Callis, and Everett Thorne, and her sisters Mary West, Frieda Fouts, and Viola Strandberg.
Ruth lived a hard life, but it never showed as she always had a smile for everyone. She was a very social person, loving her friends, enjoying a good game of cards, or working on puzzles.
She will be greatly missed by her children Carolyn (Harold) Wilkes of Custer, Linda (Roy) Holden of Scottville, Patrica Meyers, and Alice (James) Smith all of Branch, Richard C. Callis of Walhalla, and Roger Callis of Vancouver, WA, her stepsons Everett (Sue) Thorne of New Hampshire, Mike (Jean) Thorne of West Branch, Charles (Becky) Thorne of White Cloud, and Lewis (Marilyn) Thorne of Custer, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great, great-grandchildren, her sisters Anne (Don) Eschenberg of Mt. Clemens, and Lee Whitley of Jacksonville, FL, her brother Henry (Rose) Nichols of Lansing, and her dear friends Dee LaPlant and Gloria Uber, along with many nieces and nephews.
According to Ruth’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a family memorial service for her at a later date. Those who wish to make a memorial contribution in memory of Ruth, are asked to consider the charity of the donor’s choice.
