OBITUARY:
William “Bill” Scherer Jr., aged 73 of Fountain, passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at his home from natural causes.
Bill was born April 24, 1939 in Grand Rapids, MI to William and Emily Scherer, and graduated from Mason County Central High School.
He spent several decades enjoying his skilled trade of masonry work, leaving his mark all over Mason County. Bill also worked at Stokely's, on the Car Ferry in Ludington, and on oil rigs in various cities throughout Michigan.
Bill enjoyed karaoke singing, fishing, hunting, and golfing. He was an avid football player in high school, and later on in life was a coach for little league baseball. Bill was a big Detroit Lions and Tigers fan, and enjoyed watching sports of all kinds.
He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Scherer, his daughter Brenda Scherer, and his parents William and Emily Scherer.
Bill will be greatly missed by his sister Vera Lynn Young, his children: Terry Scherer, Sherri Herlein, Timothy Scherer, William Scherer III, and Sally Odean, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces, nephews, who will miss him dearly.
Funeral services will be held for Bill at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, June 19 at the Stephens Funeral Home in Scottville. Burial will follow at Bachelor Cemetery in Fountain. Friends may meet with his family for a time of visitation on Tuesday beginning at 12:00 noon until time of services at the funeral home.
Bill’s family requests that donations, in lieu of flowers be made on behalf of the family to Stephens Funeral Home.
